The Haifa Symphony Orchestra is a crucial and inseparable tier in the cultural lives of the residents of Haifa and the northern region. The roots of the Symphony Orchestra are buried deep in the city of Haifa, although the Orchestra is frequently invited to perform throughout Israel and at many international festivals and it is a cultural ambassador, well known and sought after all over the world.

The Haifa Symphony Orchestra was, and still is, a key partner in the education of a range of generations, from school going children to senior citizens, in getting to know, listening to and loving symphonic music from Israel and from around the world. From 1950 to the present, under the baton of musical directors, members of the Board of Directors, and ETHOS (the Haifa Municipality Arts, Culture and Sports Association Company), the Orchestra keeps meticulously up to date, innovative and revitalized, both regarding the musical content that it offers to the various audiences, as well as regarding the selection of the artists and soloists from Israel and abroad that it hosts. In conjunction with the Friends of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra Association, ETHOS and the Orchestra work to expand the expressive horizons of the dozens of talented musicians, writers and musical arrangers that make up the Orchestra and, in this manner, the Haifa Big Band and the Haifa Opera were established, as well as the “Bat Shir” Choir.

The Orchestra makes sure to lock arms with cultural and education entities in Haifa and to promote original Haifa and Israeli music scores, by participating in and promoting relevant educational projects (The Kedma Project and a project to promote local young composers) in the fields of classical music, jazz, opera and Israeli song and music from various periods in history.
